The following pieces are select written works completed during my time in the Professional Writing program.

From top to bottom they are:

Press Release | Article | Speech | Story
Press Release:
Matthew's Safe School Law

This piece illustrates my ability to write press releases. The point of this document is to draw attention to the topic, build support, and progress the legislation. The information is front loaded and the document reads quickly and easily so as to be picked up by a busy news editor.

E-zine Article:
BitTorrent:Revolutionizing P2P

BitTorrent, which at the time this was written was a relatively new technology, has now taken over the bulk of internet traffic. This article illustrates my ability to write about complex technical topics while maintaining a broad audience.

Speech:
Mock graduation speech

This speech showcases my ability to write in the genre public speaking and commanding the attention of a large audience. The theme is one not often touched upon at high school graduation; failure. I discuss it's inevitability, relate it to my life, and give advice on how to best deal with and learn from failure.

Fictional Story:
A day at the Cafe

I don't usually write fiction, but I gave it a shot and it was very well received in my Creative Writing class. The strength of this piece lies in the attention to detail and seamless construction of the leisurely setting. This was a fun piece to write.
